Great news! :D Or maybe we should ask, "How limited?" :?:
I think the answer is "not very limited at all" since Gary sent me the SDK. Not a peep out of all those Mac developers who were hounding Monsoon for this, though. What happened to those guys or gals?

Some of us are still waiting for the SDK.

Some of us have only just received it recently. It is not simply a case clicking your fingers and making one appear.

Hooray! I think you were the skeptical one who kept coming back once/month to see if any movement could be detected. I was afraid you (and others) would lose patience before this SDK ever showed up.

I took a quick look and thought I read that this SDK was only good for the remote stream. Is that your understanding too?

Im a new Hava user and am really enjoying the experience of having my TV travel with me everywhere I go.

Like some other users here though, I am running Hava on a windows partition on my Macbook pro. It runs fine but takes a little time to open and set up. I would be much happier if i could open and run Hava directly on my Mac.

Any update as to when we will be able to have our Hava players running on OS 10 ?

The SDK is not actually a beta of the software, it is just a tool kit that can be used by programmers to create software that can communicate with the HAVA.

If you are not a programmer then your best best is going to be to stick around and watch for programmers to post their betas of the program.

Right now I am a little tied up, but if anybody needs some hosting space for their programs, please pm me and I can host it. Also I am hoping to get a beta of a very simple program (wont have all of the features of the current HAVA player) out before the end of the month, but that really depends on my RL.

Well... For those of you who DID receive the SDK, a simple 'channel change' example would be great!

Remote/Local viewing issues notwithstanding, the HAVA can only view 1 stream at a time... so... sending a channel change would be the same in either mode.

I just got my hardware last night and after fighting with the windows installer all night I threw in the towel. The gdi/d3d hacks for the display don't work right in the virtual machine I was using leaving me wondering if the input selected was correct if any of the changes I was making had any impact etc... This morning I got most of it working before I left for work so maybe I will get a chance to try and make some functional code when I get home. Those that are waiting it's coming but it may still be a ways out it is in the hands of the community now to get it together.

I never lost patience. I am just away now on business for a couple of months (unable to use the HAVA I might add) and so I am not bothering with it for now. I was hopeful of something before I left the UK but it came so late in the day it was no good for me.

I will check out the SDK when back in the UK. A quick glance I had showed me though it was nowhere near enough really.

Just make the entire thing Open Source already and give us at least a fighting chance. Why we, the customer, is having to do the job of the people receiving the money is a joke.

I am beginning to think a standlone digital media recorder is going to offer the best solution in all honesty.

That one is only a receiver but a bit of research and a recorder is not going to be too difficult to come across.

The money you spend on such a device is far less than the time you will spend ever waiting for HAVA or Slingbox to work properly. A bit of research and maybe you will find many other devices willing to do this job.

Either way, not something for me to concern myself with for now. I will be back in the UK as and when. Then I will really look into this more.

Nowhere near enough for what? It won't play a remote stream on a Mac at all? Won't record? Won't change channels?

You mean like a Hava Titanium HD with external USB disk? ;)

I have been trying to get my Hava platinum running for 2 weeks now, i have only gotten the computer to recognize the hava once, but that effort also ended in failure. Now i can not get the setup wizard to find the hava player, using widows 7 as a virtual machine on my imac, there is no excuse for not having a mac client my now!

please do any mac users have any success using a virtual machine to run hava? please help!

Dear Customer,

vMware/Parallels/Boot Camp are not officially supported Platforms.
Still, you may go to the Virtual Machine Setup and Choose the Bridge Mode. It may work.

HAVA Tech Support.
